Uniform Regulations

The Wearing of the uniform: The NJROTC uniform will be worn by all cadets at least one full school day each week and on other occasions as prescribed by your naval science instructor. Cadets are to be in a complete uniform and in compliance with the uniform standards described in this manual anytime they are in uniform. Cadets should arrive at school in uniform and leave in uniform. Changing in or out of the uniform prior to or after inspection is not permitted. Cadets will meet uniform standards whether they are standing an NJROTC inspection or attending other school classes in uniform. 

CADET SERVICE UNIFORMS

The Navy Service Uniform is a Khaki, short-sleeved shirt worn with a plain-white-T shirt under it and with dark navy blue pants. They will be worn year round and are authorized for every cadet to wear.

    Navy Service Uniform Male

     Name Tag Parallel to the top of the right shirt pocket, 1/4-inch above and centered on the pocket buttonhole.
     Rank  1 7/8ths of an inch from the right collar point.
     J-Bar  1 7/8ths of an inch from the left collar point.
     Anchor(Cap/Cover)  2 inches from the front and 1 1/2 inches from the base on the right side.
     Rank(Cap/Cover)

    2 inches from the front and 1 1/2 inches from the base on the left side.

     Ribbons  Parallel to the top of the left shirt pocket, 1/4-inch above and centered on the pocket buttonhole.
     Service Stars  1/4-inch above the top row of ribbons centered on the ribbon rack
     Positional/Drill Cords  2 inches from the shoulder patch arm seam and 1 inch back from the left shoulder seam
     Leadership Academy Cord  2 inches from the shoulder patch arm seam and an inch back from the edge of the right shoulder seam

    Female NSU Measurements

     

     Name Tag  Centered 1/4 inch above the right breast pocket
     Rank 1 7/8ths of an inch from the right collar point.
     J-Bar  1 7/8ths of an inch from the left collar point.
     Anchor(Cap/Cover) 2 inches from the front and 1 1/2 inches from the base on the right side
     Rank(Cap/Cover) 2 inches from the front and 1 1/2 inches from the base on the left side.
     Ribbons centered 6 1/4 inches from the left shoulder seam
     Service Stars 1/4-inch above the top row of ribbons, centered on ribbon rac
     Positional/Drill Cords 2 inches from the shoulder patch arm seam and 1 inch back from the left shoulder seam
     Leadership Academy Cord Cord  2 inches from the shoulder patch arm seam and an inch back from the edge of the right shoulder seam       

     

Navy Service Dress Blues

Male Service Dress Blues consist of a white dress undershirt, tie, jacket, Navy blue pants, and dress shoes as well as the garrison or male combination cap. SBDs are authorized year round but not recommended in the summer. They are also authorized for wear in certain ceremonies prescribed by the NSI and SNSI. They are authorized only for male Chief Petty officers and above, or Color Guard participants.

Garrison Cover

The Garrison Cover is worn with the Naval Service Uniform (female + male) and on specific occasions the Service Dress Blues

  • The Combination Cover (male) is worn, only when authorized, with the Naval Service Uniform (male) or the Service Dress Blues (male) and is always worn during a Color Guard event, or when told otherwise. 

  • The Combination Cover (female) is worn, only when authorized, with the Naval Service Uniform or the Service Dress Blues (female), and is always worn during a Color Guard event, or when told otherwise.
